enough of the pity party

Ok. I am officially done with the whining. I think. Anyway, about that young now expecting mother that I was less than kind to in the last post… well, she has pleasantly surprised me by being all responsible. She has quit everything and is taking very good care of herself and the baby. I wish her the best.

Lucy, I cannot imagine what you would possibly say to make me hate you. I declare it impossible. If you were going to write telling me to get over myself, you would have been 1000% correct. By the way – Olliebollen (Dutch donuts) are a good use of potato water. At least the one recipe I have for them. I will post the recipe when I get home. But here is the recipe my mommy likes best (to hold you over.)

4 ˝ cups all purpose flour
1 ˝ tablespoons yeast
1 tablespoon salt
4 tablespoons sugar
˝ teaspoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon vanilla
3 eggs
8 oz warm beer
˝ cup water

Mix the ingredients in bowl until well incorporated, then add 1 cup raisins and two sliced Granny Smith apples. Cover with towel or saran wrap and let rise in warm place for 1 ˝ hours.

Pre-heat fryer to 325 degrees. Using ice cream scoop, add dough to fryer. As soon as last one of batch is in fryer, set timer for two minutes. Flip over (if dough didn’t already flip on it’s own and fry for two minutes more. Dust with powdered sugar.

There ya go, a nice low cal, low fat, low carb dessert. Haa haa. My mom’s aunt used to make them for us when we were wee children and when we needed help with a “Culture Swap” for school. I didn’t like them when I was a kid because I wasn’t a big fan of raisins in my baked goods. Come to think of it, I am still not a fan. I’d much prefer chocolate chips.

Anyway, the operation was a success. The tubes are out, the fibroid is gone and the cyst/abscess/tumor (we originally thought it was a cyst, during the procedure the doctors thought it was a tumor, the pre-cancer screening results said it was an abscess) was removed. The procedure was only supposed to take 20 minutes and I was supposed to be evicted about an hour after. That was the plan.

However, the procedure took 2 hours due to my tubes attachment (literally) to me and I was able to become intimate with the El’s running schedule. I was also encouraged to indulge in my morphine addiction. But that never helped with sleeping through the trains running right next to my window. It just made me care a lot less.

So, I am not almost fully recovered and ready to move onto the next stage, which, thankfully is about a month away. I need the extra recovery time to get all this whining out of my system.

I do have some traveling pictures and as soon as I remember my flickr password, I’ll get those up as well. I just wish I had spent more pre-op time in Chicago. Maybe when I go back in November I’ll have more time to check out the local scene.

Ethne,

There isn't a mean spirited bone in Lucy's body, even if she is a Conservative. lol

I'm more than sure that you just need MORE positive emotions! I think that you have to watch a comedy, for example, to eat your FAVOURITE dishes, to communicate with your beloved people and so on!
